Clare Balding introduces live coverage of the Carnegie Challenge Cup final between Warrington and Huddersfield from Wembley live on BBC ONE 14:10 on the 29th August 2009.
Warrington have had a reputation for underachieving in recent years but have reached their first Wembley final since 1990 and now have the chance to win the Challenge Cup for the first time since 1974. Huddersfield have had a terrific season in this year’s Super League but even so caused something of a shock by beating holders St Helens in the semi-finals earlier this month. The Giants have not won the famous trophy since 1953 - will their long wait end this year?
Commentary comes from Dave Woods and Jonathan Davies. Guests in the studio will be Brian Noble, Justin Morgan and pitch side Robbie Paul will be giving his analysis on the action .
[size=150Switch to the red button at 16.30 for a special forum programme reviewing the game which will also be streamed online.[/size
Coverage will be simulcast online in the UK news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/rugby_l ... efault.stm and the same URL will have highlights of the game 24 hours after the match.
BBC Radio 5 live sports extra also have uninterrupted live coverage of the Carnegie Challenge Cup final from 2.05pm on Saturday 29 August with commentary from George Riley, Stuart Pyke and John Kear.
Does anybody know if there is any way of recording the after match analysis on the red button?
It would be nice to be able to watch this, but there is no chance if we are at the game!!!

The BBC are really pushing the boat out there.

| You can tape the red button on freeview if you plug the box into the video player but the only problem is you would have to leave it on channel 1 before you went out and then change the channel to 301 at 4.30 otherwise no

| Yes - I noticed that when they plugging it at the end of the last SL show.
They had more for the semi.
That really is rubbish. You would hope at least 45 minutes.

| I remember 2005 (when we last went). They did the feature on John Kear, Rob Burrow and the "Challenge Cup Challenge" quiz in The Willows. A good bunch of build-up.
Just shows how many monkeys the BBC could give over Rugby League these days.

| Had a discussion about this on the virtual terrace. It's an absolute disgrace that the BBC are treating our showpiece occasion as if it were just another game. You wonder if it would be the same had Saints or Wigan made the final but that shouldn't make a difference should it.

I remember that one. They had Ganson as a "Mystery Guest" in the Challenge Cup Question of Sport. They also interviewed him in the referees dressing room because it was his first CC Final or something like that.
