I can't see this happening. You've done NOTHING to try and fudge your way to the promised land. Fax had a half decent attempt with that crowd announcement. Widnes's latest revelation that they can make gold bars out of old baking trays really does blow everyone out of the water though. Unless Leigh announce that Rupert Murdoch is going to buy a house in LobbyLand I can't see you getting a license.

Mystery surrounds the news that Richard Lewiss been recently talking about purchasing shares in Leigh Centurions.

Leighs years as the number 1 club outside SL could be over as the Gazette caught up with Mr Lewis at his new penthouse near the LSV sports Village.

Initially he was reluctant to talk , however he did say he was moving to Leigh and would be 'astonished' if they didn't get a SL licence such is the turn in the clubs fortunes.



A unnamed RFL official from Halifax told us over a expensive chinese banquet for 20 that Richard had become interested in Leigh after a phonecall he received.

Apparantly he 'turned white with shock' and when Nige......sorry our contact asked what was wrong he said 'that bloody Rowleys caught me out'.

After ordering a duck dinner for 18 Mr Wo...our informant said 'it stems from Rich's night out after the RFL meeting in Manchester to ratify Widnes's 2012 franchise, 'apparantly Rich went to a bar on a street near a Canal in Manchester with a friend and got blind drunk', when we asked Informant 'N' what the relevance was (and steadfastly refused to order a further side dish of 12 Chicken Wings) He replied ' Rich bumped into a man who he hates as he "always tells the truth - especially about franchises" when he was on his way back to the Midlander Hotel , 'however its unsure what happened afterwords.

Mr Rowleys was contacted who said he had 'no idea' what it was about and the only people he saw the other night when waiting for the 33 Nightbus home from Piccadilly Gardens was someone who he recognised as a ex RU player from Wales and someone who he recognised as a man who couldn't find the LSV around July 2009.

That all counts for nowt. We've got 'pictures' of Richard Lewis.
