Good interview with him on the HDM site - www.thisishullandeastriding.co.u ... story.html
This is probably worse than I thought! I knew Agar wouldnt play the kids, but he wouldnt even let them train in their position! Shocking really.
Good to see break through into the 1st team at some point this year. Not really seen him play before so is he a creator of tries, or is he a break maker, support player??

| Played alongside Danny a few times as a youth at service area and against him plenty of times - infact I'm sure I remember him getting a drop goal for West Hull against us in the 80th minute of a Yorkshire cup quarter final to win it.
Nice guy and just a classic half back - spot on with his set plays but doesnt panic when the pressures on and comes up with some great stuff 'off the cuff'.
Big FC fan aswell so hopefully if he cuts it he will stay with us for the foreseeable future.

| "Last year Richard Horne was ahead of me and Richard Agar never put me or Lee Williams who was with us then, in the halves at training," Nicklas told the Mail.
"We were never given the chance to really train in our position and if I had got my chance in the first team last year I doubt I would have been ready for it.
Thank the clowns gone.

| At last someone has come out and said something about the previous regime that was under it.
"Last year Richard Horne was ahead of me and Richard Agar never put me or Lee Williams who was with us then, in the halves at training," Nicklas told the Mail.
"We were never given the chance to really train in our position and if I had got my chance in the first team last year I doubt I would have been ready for it."
Says it all really, another example of why we needed rid and a change.
Roll on the start of the season.

| Yet some would have you believe the players loved Agar. Maybe certain ones did, but the future of RL in the foreseeable future is in the youth you can produce and retain. With overseas players becoming more expensive and IF the quota situation is finally resolved to lessen the amount of players then clubs are going to have to rely on british talent. The best way to do this is to promote from within, Saints have been doing this for a while now and you only have to look at some of the players they brought through last season to see that it is a recipe for success.
Some will say Saints won nothing, but when you consider their first choice backs were out for the majority of the season they didn't do too badly did they.
One of the things that Gentle has hammered out to fans is his policy of bringing the youth through, no more of this not old enough malarkey, we are hopefully returning to the "If your good enough your old enough" era. Agar may have had his hands tied slightly regarding not being able to play the kids more than x amount of games as they would then have to pay them more, but there is no excuse not to involve the future of our club in training especially in their preferable positions.

| It's confirmed what we all knew about Agar's youth policy really.
It was so frustrating seeing half the team swap positions to accomodate an injury, instead of promoting a youth player. We now know that this was because the young lads weren't developed under him or given a fair chance - just not ready to step up. I imagine they were just there to hold the tackle bags and provide 'defense' when the senior halfbacks were running through their moves (did we have moves?).
I feel a bit sorry for Wakefield.

| Hopefully he wont be getting thrown on for 5 mins at the end of a game at centre like he was in 2010 which must have been embarrasing for him in all honesty.

| am not in any way defending Agar, i have to ask one question: Given the serious nature of Danny's injury last year, just how much training was he involved in during 2011?

| Grew up with Danny spot on kid. Heart and mind is in the right place too. Think if he stay's injury free which hopefully with the right training and conditioning this year we might start to see much more of him. I had heard that he has impressed Gentle a little more than Ellis too which i found rather interesting. Great for competition on Squad places. I also found Gentle's comments interesting too wiith regards to he will only at a last resort within a match play someone out of position and the fact each player had been sat down individually and discussed where they wanted to play.
Really looking forward to this Season. Even with a team Gentle hasn't signed.
